"I feel happy when I spend time with my family."

Ms. T, in her 40s

*This is a case of marriage that occurred through means other than our service, but we are presenting it as a real example of marriage with an Indonesian woman.

■My Encounter with Indonesia While living my daily life in Okayama, I felt that "something was missing." Around that time, I started frequenting a local bar run by someone from Jakarta, and I became interested in Indonesia. My desire to "go there at least once" grew stronger, and I actually traveled to Indonesia. I decided to stay there and find a job.

■Meeting his wife He met his current wife at the same company. He said he immediately felt at ease with her because they could joke around and be themselves around each other without having to be on guard. After dating for about two years, they got married.

■Life after marriage They are now blessed with two children and cherish the time they spend with their family. They have built a warm home where they can find happiness in the simple things of everyday life.

■Regarding cultural and religious differences The most challenging aspect was the difference in religion. Due to my wife's beliefs, she asked me to give up alcohol, and there are cultural differences such as the annual fasting that are different from those in Japan. However, we both understand that "it's natural for our values to be different," so there haven't been any major conflicts, and we've been able to accept each other naturally.

■Mutual Effort His wife studies Japanese, and Mr. Tsuguni also buys Indonesian language textbooks to study. They value a willingness to compromise and meet each other halfway to overcome the language barrier.

■The Charm of Indonesian Women Indonesians have a very strong sense of family and a culture of cherishing their parents. They value their family connections on a daily basis, and I was drawn to that warmth. Also, just like in Japan, there are many kind and beautiful people. Being able to approach relationships with the understanding that "no one is perfect" is one of the reasons why relationships work well.

■What I like about my wife: She's cheerful and not afraid to try anything, even if it means failing. Being with her makes me feel positive.

■About their real married life Their everyday, real married life is shared on the YouTube channel "caramel diary". If you want to know what their actual atmosphere and relationship are like, please check it out.

■To those considering this: You may feel anxious at first. However, your values may change significantly once you actually get involved. I believe that taking that first step will open up new possibilities in your life.
